Going on a Mission
I never thought I would actually go on a mission. I had thought I would like to but the reality of actually going was something I kind of thought I would never have the opportunity to do. Even when looking at the list of missions and assignments it seems there isn't much for a single sister to do. But one thing I have learned is if you are able, you are needed. There are so many opportunities to forward the work of the Lord. I know my purpose is to Invite others to Christ and that can happen regardless of my assignment. I also never even imagined going on a mission outside of the United States but here I am on my way to Scotland/Ireland. What an adventure. I know the time I spend there will be time I will always treasure. It's not easy leaving behind little grandchildren who are going to grow and change while I'm away but I know their lives will be blessed. I can do good as a grandma but the Lord can do better. He knows what my children, grandchildren, parents and siblings need and he will provide. I am thankful to him for this opportunity, and thankful for friends at home who will watch over things here. And I am especially thankful for an understanding family who will love and support me and each other and watch over those I love.
Where I am going
I have been called for 18 months to the Scotland/Ireland Mission. I am assigned to work in the mission office. I don't know much more than that yet but I look forward to whatever I am asked to do.
Why I am going
I have a testimony of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I love my Heavenly Father and my Savior Jesus Christ. I know that I have been nothing but blessed my entire life by them as well as the Holy Ghost. I know they are mindful of me, my needs, and my desires. I have read the Book of Mormon several times and each time I feel renewed in the truthfulness of what I read. The Holy Ghost bears witness to me that this book is true and that it can change people's hearts. I am so grateful that I have an eternal family and I wish for everyone to have this same blessing. What a joy to know that this is not end game, that we have so much to look forward to as we strive to live the commandments and make eternal promises in holy temples. I will invite people to come unto Christ and learn of Him and gain blessings and promises of their own. I am so excited for the opportunity to meet the beautiful people of Scotland and Ireland and share my testimony with them.
